Client: Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health
One World completed an ongoing, multi-stage project for CADTH where we have reviewed possible approaches to public engagement in the work of their Agency and provided strategic advice on ways forward.
The project scope included:
- An environmental scan of domestic and international programs that involved the public in health technology or drug review processes. The data collection included documentation, email and telephone interviews.
- Analysis and a report outlining three strategic options for public awareness and engagement.
- We were subsequently contracted to detail one of the options and develop an implementation plan for the inclusion of two members of the public on the Canadian Expert Drug Advisory Committee (CEDAC). A third contract resulted when One World Inc was asked to assist in the recruitment and selection of participants for the positions.
Most recently, we completed an update of the original scan, developed a set of principles and practices for public involvement and used these to assess options for citizen involvement.

A societal shift toward a ‘culture of participation’ has meant that clients increasingly require assistance in making sense of public and stakeholder consultation, engagement and involvement, as well as well-grounded help in implementing their own programs.
